The correct time to put your Christmas tree up is a heavily debated topic amongst family, friends, and colleagues.

These days, it’s not unusual to see Christmas decorations go up the first week of November, with many people embracing the joy that decorations bring them.

This early decorating has become even more popular in recent years due to Covid-19, as people have been looking to brighten their surroundings as soon as possible.

What is the traditional date to put your Christmas tree up?

Traditions are often personal to cultures or specific families, so there’s not necessarily a set day you should put your Christmas tree up on.

Some people argue anything before December is too early, but if you’re following Christian traditions, December would be slightly too late this year.

Christian’s believe Christmas trees should go up at the beginning of advent, which is the fourth Sunday before Christmas. This year advert falls on 27th November 2022.

However, if you’re using a real Christmas tree, you might want to leave it until later in December to put your tree up, to ensure it lasts until the big day.

Similarly, if you’re planning on bringing a potted tree indoors to decorate, you should only bring the tree in for a couple of days maximum, as it would not enjoy the humidity of being indoors.
